During 2019 – 2023, a major rebuilding of the Irstaskolan school is underway and in connection with that, new furniture and other equipment have also been purchased for the first completed stage of the school. Irstaskolan is a municipal primary school in Västerås with about 900 students aged 6 – 15 years.

The procurement of furniture was carried out as a chemical smart public procurement. You can find the requirements that were set here. The requirements include avoidance of PVC in artificial leather and plastic and also avoidance of certain surface treatments among others.

The school building applies to the Sweden green building council certification, and parts of the school yard are designed to meet pedagogical and ecological requirements.
